Superior Fireplace Door Installation
Installing your Superior Fireplace Door
Installing your Superior Fireplace Door can be a stressful process if you don’t know what you are doing. However, it can save you a ton of money by doing it yourself. This page is going to help reduce a lot of the stress by taking you step by step on how to install your Superior Fireplace Door.
As stated before, there are two different kinds of Superior fireplace doors for your fireplace and depending on the kind you buy, that will determine the method for which you install them.
The first is the door that you can pretty much snap into any prefab fireplace. They will look like this. In this case they will not come with a frame. If you look on the inside of the front of your fireplace, you will probably see a track on the top and a clip inside the track. The picture below is what you need to see in order to install them this way.
On the clip you can find a hole in the edge that the pegs on the door pretty much snap into. The track will guide the other part of the door so it can slide open and closed to meet the other door.
If you do not have a track or a clip you will need to get a frame fitted for your fireplace. The first thing you will need to do is measure the height and width of your fireplace.
You will need to remove your track first, just unscrew it and it should come right out. If there are any obstructions, you will want to take them out. You will most likely be able to unscrew anything in the way.
With a Prefab Fireplace there are normally holes on the sides to screw your frame into, however with a masonry fireplace it is a different story.
You won’t have to worry about the track or clip. The doors will come with a frame and C-clamps that can hold the doors from the underside once they are in place.
